The Consortium is growing in strength all the time, enabling more local authorities and housing associations the opportunity to purchase quality reuse furniture and white goods. One of our newest members The Community Reuse Shop based in Stranraer has just started a pilot to provide the service with locally based Loreburn Housing Association. The Reuse Shop operates across the Wigtownshire area of Dumfries and Galloway, collecting and repairing furniture and offering it to the public for sale. This provides valuable volunteering, training and placements to local people who benefit from gaining skills, improved mental health, and better employment prospects.
Wilma White, Shop Manager at The Reuse Shop, said “This is a great opportunity to build on the work we have done in the past with Loreburn to support their tenants. Working through the Scotland Excel Contract ensures for everyone that there is consistency of standards and pricing on all goods. Being part of the Consortium provides us with support from CRNS and other Consortium members to get started.”
Clare Burns, Community Team Manager at Loreburn HA, said “We are all really excited about having this as an option for those customers who need our assistance. We especially like the fact that there is also a choice and the option for installation”.
